buying new all mountain skis?
I’m looking for a new pair of skis, at first I considered a freeride ski, but then I thought about it and decided I want more of an all-mountain ski. I’ve decided on which one(s) but not on what size. I’m either going to get the Nordica Hot Rod Top Fuel XBS (2008) or the Nordica Hot Rod Jet Fuel (2009). So my question is, what size should I buy them? I’m an expert/aggressive skier, I weigh 180 lbs (give or take 2) and am 5’9″ tall. But I don’t know if I should get them in 170cm and take a shorter turn radius for good maneuverability in trees, or a larger 178cm ski?
Also if anyone out there has these skis, any comments? How well do they float on pow?(I ski in CO). And how well do these work out in bumps? (which one is better for bumps?)
Thanks!
My ‘big’ skis are Atomic Metrons and are 172cm. My little skis for trees and bumps are 159cm. Line makes skis that they promote for both park and big mountain. Some are quite massive, twin tip, very wide and can be had with Line bindings which rotate 180 degrees to vary the skiing characteristics of the ski. Never tried that feature, but it seems interesting.
Oh, yeah, I’m 6′ tall, over 200# and ski very agressively, but no park skiing. I think I’m too old for that.
