Is This True About 10 Mountain DIV?
I asked a question about 10th Mountain DIV still training for mountain battles and stuff. and I got this answer
No, they do not and if anyone who answered yes had ever served with them, would know that the “Mountain” tab is for historical purpose only. The ONLY mountain unit in the US Army is the Vermont (or is it New Hampshire?) National Guard. FT Drum is NO WHERE NEAR the Adirondack mountains, which are about two to three hours away.
They do however, issue snow gear since it snows like crazy there. But there is no 10th Mountain ski team, no Alpine response team, and no hiking team.
WWII was the last time 10th Mountain was used as a “mountain” unit, when they were stationed at Ski Cooper in Leadville, Colorado.
Sorry to burst everyones bubble, but I went to the museum a few times while I was stationed at Drum. You learn A LOT!!
(10th Mountain is not “Mountain” it is Light Infantry).

Yea thats true, they no longer SPECIALIZE in mountain operations, like they did back in WWII. But they are trained in cold weather warfare because it gets super cold at fort drum.
They were an elite mountain warfare division, but now they are a rpidly deployed light infantry division,
