What size of snow skis, boots, and poles should I get?
I’m 16 year old, 5 ft. 7 in., about 220 pounds, and I wear size 10 1/2 & 11 shoes. I’m a little better skier than a beginner.
Women’s skis
Boots are the most critical of the 3 items. They must fit tight around your foot and ankle so you can transmit your body movements to the skis. I suspect that you will wear a 27 or a 26 in a ski boot. A woman’s shoe size is numbered different than a man’s. A man’s 10 is a size 28 a woman’s 10 is a size 27. Different foot shape will also make a difference. Go to a specialty ski shop and try on different boots, then write down the size, brand and model that fits your foot the best. This will take a couple of hours to find a good fit.
About a pair of skis, a 155 cm in a fairly stiff ski to support your weight would be my suggestion. A shorter ski will probably be too soft to support you. Much longer and you will struggle with control until your skill level improves. Ski poles about a 42 inch might fit, or a 44, I buy them long and trim down to exact size for my skill.
