Do you need to have 4wd to drive up to Solitude Ski Resort in Utah?

I just moved to Utah from Las Vegas. I want to try cross country skiing and Solitude Ski Resort is closest. My car is a chevy lumina w/ front wheel drive. Does anyone know if this would be a problem getting to the resort?

Also what kind of winter wear do I need for this sport/activity?

Thanks

No, not usually. However, on very snowy days they do stop every car at the entrance to Big Cottonwood Canyon and require that you either put on snow chains or have a 4WD vehicle. The only other option is to drive to the base of Big Cottonwood Canyon and board the local Utah Transit Ski Bus which operates approximately every 1/2 hour starting about 8:30 AM. The Lumina will be fine 80+% of the time, but listen to the local SLC radio stations for the Cottonwood Canyon road reports each morning. You should have good insulated underwater, ski pants, a reliable ski Parka warm socks, ski hat, good sunglasses or goggles and plenty of SPF-30 Sun Screen. Dress in layers so if you do get too warm you can take off a sweater or shirt easier later.
