I am planning a ski trip to Aspen this winter need help?
I am planning a ski trip to Aspen this winter, I been to colorado before but never to Aspen. I have done a little research and checked out the trail maps and such but would like some advice of some one who has skied there before and what their opinion on the ski resorts over there where and what they liked best. I am pretty advanced skier and I looked on the trail maps and that they all had good amount of advanced and expert runs. I dont know how many days we will be skiing but I think 3 or 4. What I am looking for in a good ski resort is good advance terrain with nice bowls, back country and woods. Also has good service and great food but mostly good solid skiing. Any suggestions?
You should have fun whichever Resort you choose out there.
I’m pretty sure that AspenSnowmass have one ticket for all (4) of their Resorts. You bounce between them even on the same day. You can start at Buttermilk/Tiehack then move Aspen Mtn. Then begin your next day at Aspen Highlands then end it at Snowmass. Then choose which one to spend and entire next day or two at.
Aspen Mtn: has a reputation of being full of moguls and more intermediate/advanced. Haven’t skied it in the winter yet but want to. Heard it was good.
Snowmass: the largest of the (4) Resorts and has the biggest variety. Great for beginners and lots of easier/harder intermediate runs. Some good areas on the mtn. to give you a case of the butterflies.
Aspen Highlands: my personal favorite due to the variety of steep terrain – especially up higher up on the slopes. With fresh deep powder or even decent snow conditions, this area is a lot of fun. Some good glades at the Highlands
Buttermilk/Tiehack: smaller area with some treasures here and there. Lots of fun easier and intermediate trails. Usually a good place to go to aviod crowds around weekends/holidays or to bring a family and enjoy a slower pace ski area.
- that’s just my $0.02
