Snow Ski Wholesale/Dealers in USA?

I have a school project, and I have to investigate as if I were a representative or distributor for a name brand skis, i.e. k2, nordic or something.
I was wondering if I could get some hints as how I would be able to approach this. As in, what would or should I do first? Talk about trying to sell the product to ski stores around USA? OR would it be a better idea to find wholesalers and try to sell to them in bulk? Any ideas or opinions, or help would be appreciated. Thanks.

in the ski world there are only two types of Reps. In house, they work for the company and sell to the shops directly. the other is a out side sales rep. They are independent contractors that work for the company or many companies. So for the project I would work it out as an in house rep. The company gives you all the promotional product and you would go door to door (local shops) and help spread the love of the brand. This also includes going to trade shows, on snow ski tests and helping the local shops with sales. In the ski industry there really is no wholesales. This sounds like a great project but the ski industry is a little different in distribution than other industries. Good luck and feel free to sent any questions you may have.
