How can I avoid hitting my head to go skiing?

Im skiing soon and I will not wear a helmet. I skied before I crashed and Black Diamonds hills, but I'm always afraid of falling. What are some tips to avoid hitting my head if I fall it is going very fast?

A helmet will not prevent you from falling. It can prevent serious head injury if you fall, you help to avoid or keep the head (region) to make contact with the snow. The best is if you fall just leave it alone and do not fight it. More injuries occur when the body is tense. If you know you're going down … relax. Most falls are going to be sliding falls, so you're the head is not in much danger. In 20 years I've had 4 falls when my head came into contact with the snow / trees / etc … every rock, but one of them has happened after I started wearing a helmet. "Do not fall!" is the best advice. Ski in control and if you release the throttle, then do so. Not only will you prevent becoming a statistic on the table ski patrol, you avoid taking others in you.

When the reclusive Cornell ventures out of his shy-guy shell, it’s typically via a p…

Whether because of a creative impasse or a return to her club roots, Shawn Colvin opted to pass some of the time between her breakthrough Steady On and later, more mature efforts with this 1994 collection of cover songs. Paging through a latter-day Great American Songbook, Colvin acquits herself well enough on a selection of Bob Dylan, Jimmy Webb, and Tom Waits songs. Less successful are her rewor…

It’s hard to imagine now, when even Shania Twain routinely uses power chords, but the Kentucky Headhunters’ first single, a piledriving, quasi-metal transformation of Bill Monroe’s “Walk Softly on This Heart of Mine,” was a revolutionary record for country in 1990. With its thumping drums, sheet-metal guitar, and a liquid-fuzztone lead guitar more reminiscent of Blue Cheer than bluegrass, the son…
