What will my daughter need for skiing?
My daughter is going on a youth retreat soon and someone has paid the fee for her to go skiing while there. Is it possible to outfit her inexpensively? Buying all new brand-name things is out of the question. We live in the South so thrift stores and even discount stores are no help. What are the absolute necessities? I’d like her to be able to take advantage of this generous offer but I don’t want her to get sick or injured because she wasn’t wearing what she needed.
The two most important things are 1) gloves, good water proof fleece insulated ones. The best place to get these would be the clearance section at Big Five or any sports store. 2) wool socks, one pair is all she needs and you can get these where you get the gloves. Also, it is extremely important to have darkly tinted sunglasses so she doesn’t go snow blind. Another thing that would be good to have are wrist guards if you happen to have a pair but they are not necessary. If there is a target or Walmart near the ski resort, your should look into snow pants (they may be in the boys section) and you can get them for about $15. And of course a decent water proof jacket!
